PREPaRE Workshop 1 Crisis Prevention and Preparedness: Comprehensive School Safety Planning

This 1-day workshop is appropriate for all school personnel who need to understand how the comprehensive school crisis team is organized and functions. The training will provide the knowledge and resources to help establish and sustain comprehensive school safety and crisis prevention and preparedness efforts. With updated research and strategies, this workshop makes a clear connection between ongoing school safety and crisis preparedness. It also will emphasize the unique needs and functions of school teams and the steps involved in developing these teams, including a model that integrates school personnel and community provider roles. The workshop also explores how to prepare for school crises by developing, exercising, and evaluating safety and crisis plans.

If you are employed by a school district, registration is now open in My Learning Plan, WSB catalog. If not, please contact Susan Kessler at skessler@wsboces.org and she will assist you with registration. Please encourage your school administrators to take these courses as well. Completion of PREPaRE Workshop 2 is required by at least one mental health crisis team member in a school district in order for that school district to join the Long Island School Practitioner Network (LISPAN).
