Social anxiety is a common form of anxiety and can significantly interfere with the quality of life of many individuals. This half-day workshop will help clinicians to accurately assess and diagnose Social Anxiety Disorder and will provide an overview of the theory and practice of Rational-Emotive and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (RE & CBT) as it applies to the treatment of social anxiety. Specifically, participants will learn methods to help their clients identify, debate, and replace common irrational beliefs that lead to social anxiety. Finally, participants will also be taught innovative behavioral strategies, including implementation of exposure therapy exercises that have been proven to effectively treat social anxiety. Demonstrations of the various strategies will be provided throughout as a model for participants.
