Recommended Participants: School Psychologists, Social Workers, Guidance Counselors, Health Teachers, District and Building-Level School Leaders, and Graduate Students
Focusing on the MENTAL HEALTH component of the New York State Health Curriculum
New regulations call on school districts to ensure that their health education programs recognize the multiple dimensions of health by including mental health and the relationship between mental and physical health in health education. Are you prepared for this change in the curriculum? Please join us for this workshop to develop an understanding of NYSED’s requirement in the 2018-2019 school year.
Participants will develop an understanding of:
- The details of the new regulations and the possible effects on Districts.
- The work of the State Mental Health Advisory Committee.
- Their role as a mental health professional and how it relates to this new regulation.
- How to combat the stigma of mental illness.
- How to integrate this mental health project and our work with positive School Climate and Social Emotional Learning.
